Raccoon River Park/Sprayground/Beach/Dog park is a huge park with lots to offer – the playground has a unique ship shape, sand pit, and several structures. The trail going around the lake is over 3 miles long, and a mix of crushed rock and pavement. There are lots of wildflowers and wildlife to see along the trail, come back and cool off at the swimming beach.
Legion Park and Sprayground is one of our favorites, with unique play structures and great shade trees. There is a separate toddler playset and lots of opportunities to play.
Knolls Park is a treasure, set away under mature trees with lots of shade. A very tall playground set with a smaller toddler one, and paved path nearby. There is a sand pit for digging, so bring some toys!
Sargent Park & Fountain is one of our favorites, with a natural playscape. There is a paved trail nearby for hiking, and lots to look at in the river. There is a sandpit, so bring shovels! There is easy creek splashing access here, you can see more specific details about how to get into the water in this post.
